Brian Madeley

Brian Madeley is a financial strategist with a passion for bringing data to life for business owners. After receiving his finance degree from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas and graduating with honors, Brian began his business career working as a financial and treasury analyst at Zale Corporation in Dallas. He then worked as a consultant and manager at a small health insurance company where he built a finance team, wrote and implemented financial and cash management processes, and managed the team. Brian is also currently the CFO of a small residential real estate holding company as well as a pilot for United Airlines.

Brian is passionate about sharing his knowledge in ways that make complex issues easy to understand and apply. He spent many years in a formal teaching role: first, as a flight instructor for pilots with no previous flying experience; and later, as an instructor for experienced pilots during recurrent training courses at United. He also enjoys utilizing his expertise from his aviation career in threat and error management, standard operating procedures, crew resource management techniques, and decision-making principles to approach business problems from a unique perspective.

Brian believes that small business leaders can unlock untapped potential in their businesses by gaining and utilizing a deeper understanding of finance and the role of financial systems in making informed decisions. His goal is to form relationships and provide the tools necessary to help leaders gain new insight into their business. The numbers of a business tell a story: where a business has been, where it is currently, why that is the case, and what that indicates about its future. Brian has a great deal of experience constructing that story in a way that paints a clear picture for business owners. Finally, he is enthusiastic about providing consulting services to assist in solving the many issues that arise in running a business.

Brian lives in Washington, D.C. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, active outdoor activities, great cuisine, and a new challenge
